There's something enchanting about wandering through rows of vintage and handcrafted treasures, each with its own story to tell. Recently, we had the pleasure of participating in the Vintage Market Days event held at the Myrtle Beach Sports Complex in South Carolina, and it was an experience worth writing about!
Nestled amidst the vibrant city of Myrtle Beach, the market exuded a timeless charm from the moment we arrived. As vendors, we were greeted by a bustling crowd eager to explore the eclectic mix of goods on display. From retro furniture to classic clothing, every corner was adorned with unique finds waiting to be discovered from the 120 juried vendors. The promoters of the event had done a great job with the vendor selection and each space created a unique shopping experience for the market attendees.
I was fortunate for Mom and Dad to be able to make it, just two weeks after Dad's pacemaker surgery. They drove down on Thursday and Mom had a FULL day of shopping on Friday. Every time she left my space, she came wandering back with a handful of shopping bags. Dad, in his element with all of the people to talk to, was amazing and I couldn't help but think about how different it could be given his stroke just 5 short months ago. God has a special way of making the good times, REALLY good.
Setting up the space was a labor of love, and always so much fun to watch it come together. It's always just a bit intimidating to walk into a big open building and wonder how you are going to make your little piece of the puzzle something to be proud of. Each item held a special place in our hearts, curated with passion and nostalgia. As the event unfolded, we found ourselves immersed in conversations with fellow enthusiasts, sharing anecdotes and memories sparked by our offerings.
One of the highlights of each event we do is witnessing the joy on the faces of visitors as they
stumbled upon pieces that resonated with their own personal style or evoked fond memories from years past. Because we do a lot of faith-based items, it always generates conversation with likeminded people. Each show, God puts people in my path for conversations of shared encouragement and this event was no different. It was a reminder of the power of His love, no matter where you are, and the greater Christian community that we are a part of.
As the sun set on the final day of the event, I couldn't help but feel just a bit overwhelmed. I had never done this show before and as I head down this path outside of the corporate world, there's been a significant amount of self-doubt and second guessing. My plan had been to pick up a smaller pop up in Virginia at the beginning of March but the Myrtle Beach show was so successful that I didn't have the inventory to make that happen. What an amazing problem to have and I could feel the Lord reminding me not to worry. Our journey at Vintage Market Days had been more than just a weekend sale—it was a reminder of the faithfulness of God.
To anyone who has yet to experience the magic of a Vintage Market Days, we
wholeheartedly recommend making the trip. Whether you're a seasoned collector or simply seeking a unique outing, you'll find yourself enchanted by the treasures waiting to be discovered. The promoters for this event are amazing people and have several other events in the South Carolina area - the next one being Charleston, South Caroline in April and we can't wait to see new faces there! Until next time, may your adventures be as timeless as the vintage treasures you seek.
